The Zimbabwe side at a glance
The Zimbabwe side of Victoria Falls is a forest path with a series of viewpoints facing the falls across the gorge. It starts at the park entrance in Victoria Falls Town. This side faces the Main Falls. When the water is high, the spray can hide the view.
You can search for the place as the Victoria Falls rainforest or as Victoria Falls National Park. This guide is independent. It is not run by Zimbabwe Parks or any tour operator, so check the current fees and hours at the gate.

Entry fees in 2026
The rates below are per person and in US dollars. Confirm them at the gate.
| Visitor | Daytime entry | Moonlight visit |
|---|---|---|
| International adult, main gate | $58 | $116 |
| International adult, VIP gate | $174 | โ |
| SADC visitor | $35 | $81 |
| Zimbabwean visitor | $7 | $15 |
| Child aged 6 to 12 | $29 | โ |
| Child aged 5 or under | Free | โ |
Older guides still give $50. That figure is out of date. Entry is single use, so if you leave, you pay again. A daytime ticket does not cover a moonlight visit.

What to expect on the path
Allow time, and expect to get wet.
The viewpoints
The path runs through forest kept wet by the spray, with openings onto the Main Falls. Views change a lot with the season. In the high-water months of roughly March to May the spray is heavy and can limit the view. In the low-water months from October to December there is less spray, and parts of the falls can run dry.
Water levels by month โWhat to wear
Bring a rain jacket or a poncho, shoes with grip and a bag that keeps your phone and camera dry. The paths can be slippery.
Staying safe
Stay on the paths and do not cross the barriers. Do not feed animals, and keep your distance from them. The German Foreign Office advises against walking after dark in Zimbabwe, so plan your return before evening.
Parking and the gate
A car park is described opposite the entrance. Check the current charge on arrival. Two gates exist, the main gate at $58 and a VIP gate at $174.
Moonlight visits
On the nights around the full moon, moonlight visits are offered after dark. Moonlight entry costs $116 for international adults. A lunar rainbow needs enough spray, bright moonlight and few clouds. Full moon alone does not make one.
An agent calendar for 2026 lists 25 to 27 October, 23 to 25 November and 23 to 25 December. Tours are listed with starts from 18:00 to 20:00, depending on the date and the season. This is not a daily service, so confirm the date and start time locally.

Getting there and money
The park is in Victoria Falls Town.
From the airport
Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA) is 21 km south-east of town. One safari hotel lists a transfer of 22 minutes for $25 per person and direction, with two guests minimum. That is an example, not a public bus fare.
Travel tips and visas โFrom the Zambian side
You cross the Victoria Falls Bridge at the border post. Bring your passport and check the visa rules first. Border hours are listed differently by different sources, so confirm them.
The bridge โCash and cards
US dollars are widely used and the local currency is the ZiG. Cash can be short, and cards and ATMs are not reliable everywhere. Sort out your cash before you travel.
The water level now
The view depends on the flow.
An official measurement
The Zambezi River Authority measured 328 cubic metres per second at Nana's Farm station on 14 October 2026. On the same day in 2025 it was 247. This is a flow figure, not a water depth in metres.
What it means for your visit
October is a low-water month, so expect less spray and a clearer view of the cliff. The same reading means little for other months. A tourist rule of thumb puts the highest flow around March and April, and the lowest in November and early December.
Best time to visit โCombine with an activity
You can pair the walk with a helicopter flight, a sunset cruise or a trip to the bridge. See the guide to things to do.

Victoria Falls Zimbabwe: frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to enter the Zimbabwe side?
International adults pay $58 at the main gate in 2026. Children aged 6 to 12 pay $29 and children aged 5 or under are free. SADC visitors pay $35.
How long should I plan for the rainforest walk?
There is no fixed visit length, so plan by how much you want to see and photograph. The gate is listed as open from 06:00 to 18:00, so start early if you also have other plans that day.
Can I re-enter on the same ticket?
No. Entry is single use, and you pay again if you leave and come back.
Is the Zimbabwe side better than the Zambia side?
Neither is better. The Zimbabwe path faces the Main Falls. The Zambia side has its own paths and the Knife-Edge Bridge. See our Zambia side guide and decide by your dates and the water level.
Can I visit at night?
Only on listed moonlight nights around the full moon, at $116 for international adults. The park is not open after dark on other days.
