Victoria Falls at a glance

The Zambezi drops into a gorge on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia. The falls are 1,708 m wide and 108 m high, and the site is a shared World Heritage property (inscribed 1989). Victoria Falls Town is the base on the Zimbabwe side. Livingstone is the base on the Zambia side. They are different towns, linked by the Victoria Falls Bridge.

The two sides have separate entrances and separate fees. There is no joint ticket, so plan each visit on its own. Most activities below are run by private operators, and prices are the figures listed for 2026. They can change with the season and the water level.

Walks and viewpoints

The first three experiences cost only the entry fee.

1. The rainforest walk (Zimbabwe)

A path runs through spray-fed forest opposite the Main Falls. International adults pay $58 in 2026, children aged 6 to 12 pay $29 and under-sixes are free. Entry is single use, so you pay again if you leave. Wear non-slip shoes and stay on the paths.

2. The Zambian falls paths and Knife-Edge Bridge

Zambia has its own walkways, including the Knife-Edge Bridge, a footbridge to viewpoints. Do not confuse it with the road and rail bridge. An agent lists $20 for international visitors and half price for children aged 6 to 16. The Boiling Pot path has a steep descent.

3. A moonlight visit

On full-moon nights the spray can form a lunar rainbow. Zimbabwe lists $116 for the moonlight visit and Zambia lists a $30 lunar tour. An agent calendar for 2026 gives 25 to 27 October, 23 to 25 November and 23 to 25 December. You need spray, bright moonlight and few clouds, so nothing is guaranteed.

Things to do in Victoria Falls: frequently asked questions

How many days do you need at Victoria Falls?

That depends on how many activities you want. There is no fixed visit length for the falls. Add time for activities such as Chobe or rafting, and keep time for the border crossing if you visit both countries.

Can I visit both sides in one trip?

Yes, via the Victoria Falls Bridge. Each side charges its own entry fee, and you need the right visa or permit for each country. See our travel tips for the KAZA Univisa.

What is the cheapest way to see the falls?

Walk the paths on either side. Zambia lists $20 for international visitors and Zimbabwe lists $58 in 2026. Both are entry fees only.

Which activities depend on the season?

Devil's Pool is usually open from late August to late December. Rafting follows the water level, and the lunar rainbow needs a full moon plus spray. Check our best time to visit page.

Are the prices final?

No. They are listed 2026 figures from operators and agents, and extras such as park fees, transfers and visas can change the total. Check the current price before you book.
